Colts: WR Austin Collie Taken out in Stretcher. Is this hit illegal? {VIDEO}

Latest on Colts WR: Austin Collie

An NFL game often takes on a serious tone when a violent injury takes place.
Such was the case with Colts WR Austin Collie in Sunday’s game against the Eagles, when he was carted off the field after taking two big hits following what was ruled an incomplete pass during the second quarter.
Collie appeared to haul in a pass from Peyton Manning over the middle of the field, and as he braced for a collision, was first hit on one side by the shoulder of Quintin Mikell, and then took a helmet-to-helmet hit from FSKurt Coleman an instant later. The back of Collie’s helmet hit the field hard, and the severity of his injury was immediately clear. Collie immediately dropped the ball and appeared to have been knocked unconscious.
Team medical personnel removed Collie’s face mask and strapped him to a backboard before he was taken off the field on a stretcher. Manning came over to offer some words, and TV camera angles clearly showed Collie blinking his eyes. Because of the precautionary measures involved, it’s difficult to speculate on his exact injury or its severity.
And it was difficult to watch.
The play was ruled an incomplete pass, and a unnecessary roughness penalty was called on Mikell as Collie was deemed a “defenseless” receiver. The Colts did not make any immediate announcements.

As Reported by: By Frank Tadych |

At The start of the 3rd Quarter it was updated That Austin Collie Received a Concussion ONLY. That he was mobile and Alert.

MIKE VICK TO PLAY AGAINST THE COLTS!

The Indianapolis Colts have sole possession of first place in the AFC South, but they are not about to take anything for granted with Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles waiting.

Despite dominating the Eagles, the Colts expect a serious challenge while trying for a fourth consecutive victory Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field.

Indianapolis (5-2) has overcome two early losses and a a ton of injuries to win three in a row (all against teams with four wins or more). This means they carry the top of the division alone for the first time in 2010.

"We're not concerned about standings," coach Jim Caldwell said. "We're concerned about getting better and getting ourselves in the best position to play well on Sunday."

A fifth consecutive victory over Philadelphia (4-3) would put the Colts back on pace for an eighth straight 12-win season.

"We do have a group that I think has always been extremely focused," Caldwell said.

Facing the Eagles for the first time since a 45-21 home win on Nov. 26, 2006, Indianapolis has outscored Philadelphia 161-61 during a four-game series winning streak. That included a 35-13 win in its last trip to Philadelphia on Nov. 10, 2002.

The Eagles have not beaten Indianapolis since Dec. 19, 1993, and at home since Oct. 14, 1984.

So, do you think Vick is ready? Will he lead the Eagles on to VICKtory? We will see this Sunday.

***DeSean Jackson returned to practice yesterday willing to do whatever it takes to get back on the field this weekend. You can read that story here.
